Privacy Policy

The Basics

Long Island Siding Co. is a New York limited liability company operated by Mike Reilly. Our physical address is 142 Old Country Road, Hicksville NY 11801. You can reach us by phone at (516) 555-0100 or by email at the contact address on our contact page.

We are a residential exterior contractor. We install and repair siding on houses in Nassau and Suffolk counties. We do not sell products online, we do not run a social network, and we do not operate any business that depends on collecting personal data.

This privacy policy applies to our website at longislandsiding.co (and any subdomains), the tools embedded in that website (the estimate calculator and the siding visualizer), and any information you share with us by phone, email, text, or in person at the shop or on a jobsite.

Information We Actually Collect

When you browse the site:

  • Your IP address (logged by our hosting provider for security and abuse prevention)
  • Your approximate city and region (derived from IP, not precise)
  • The pages you visit and how long you stay
  • Your device type, browser, and operating system
  • The referring site (if you clicked a link from somewhere else)

We do not use Google Analytics. We use a privacy-respecting analytics provider that does not set cookies and does not track you across sites. No personal identifier is tied to your browsing.

When you use the estimate calculator:

  • The answers you give to the six calculator questions (house size, current siding, stories, desired material, tear-off, town)
  • The resulting estimate (so we can show it to you and, if you choose, email it to you)
  • Nothing else unless you voluntarily provide it

We do not require an email, phone number, or name to use the estimator. If you enter one to save or share the estimate, we treat it as a lead and may follow up once. See "Lead follow-up" below.

When you use the siding visualizer:

  • The photo you upload
  • The material and color selections you make
  • The rendered result image

Your uploaded photo is processed by our AI rendering partner (Fal AI) and is stored on our server for up to 24 hours so you can regenerate, compare, or download the result. After 24 hours the photo and the render are deleted. We do not train any model on your photo. We do not share your photo with anyone except the rendering API, and we do not keep a copy after the session expires.

When you contact us:

  • Your name, phone number, email address, and anything else you choose to tell us
  • The content of your message
  • Any photos, documents, or files you attach
  • The address of your property (if you are requesting a walk-through)

When we do a walk-through or a job at your house:

  • Your full name and contact information
  • Your property address
  • Photos of your property (for the quote, the job file, and our portfolio if you give permission)
  • Measurements, notes, and job specifications
  • Payment information (processed by our payment processor, not stored on our servers)
  • Any insurance, permit, or HOA paperwork related to your job

Information We Do Not Touch

  • We do not use Google Analytics or Meta Pixel or any ad tracking pixel
  • We do not buy or sell leads or data lists
  • We do not fingerprint your browser
  • We do not set third-party advertising cookies
  • We do not track you across the web after you leave our site
  • We do not follow you around with "you were looking at siding" retargeting ads
  • We do not sync your email with a CRM that sells data to third parties
  • We do not run SMS marketing without explicit consent
  • We do not share your information with anyone unless required by law or necessary to deliver the service you asked for

What We Do With It

We use the information you give us to:

  1. Quote and complete your job. This is the main reason. If you give us your address, we use it to come to your house, measure, quote, and do the work.
  2. Respond to your questions. If you email us, we reply to your email. If you call, we call you back.
  3. Follow up on leads. If you request a walk-through or submit an estimate inquiry, we may call or email you once or twice to schedule it. If you do not respond, we drop it. We do not run endless drip campaigns.
  4. Pull permits. We need your name and address on the permit application.
  5. Process payment. Our payment processor (Stripe) handles card and bank data. We do not store card numbers on our servers.
  6. Honor warranties. We keep a job file for every customer so that ten years from now when you call about a warranty issue, we still have your records.
  7. Run the business. Accounting, tax filings, crew scheduling, and operations require us to keep customer records.

We do not use your information to train AI models, profile you, or sell you unrelated products.

Third Parties We Use

We use a small number of third-party service providers to run the business. Each has access to only the information they need to do their job. They are all US-based or operate under US privacy frameworks.

  • Hosting: Vercel (website infrastructure)
  • Email: Google Workspace (customer email)
  • Payment processing: Stripe (card and ACH processing)
  • AI rendering: Fal AI (visualizer tool only, 24-hour session)
  • Accounting: QuickBooks (customer billing records)
  • Permit filing: Town and village permit portals (required for the job)
  • Insurance: Our general liability and workers comp carrier (only if there is a claim)
  • Warranty registration: Material manufacturers (James Hardie, CertainTeed, Maibec) to register your material warranty in your name

We do not share your information with marketers, data brokers, ad networks, or anyone else not listed above. If we ever add a new service provider, we will update this list.

Retention

  • Site analytics: 90 days, then anonymized
  • Estimate calculator sessions: 30 days
  • Visualizer uploads and renders: 24 hours
  • Email correspondence: As long as the business relationship is active, plus 7 years for tax and contract purposes
  • Customer job files: Life of the warranty (10 years minimum) plus 7 years for accounting
  • Payment records: 7 years (IRS requirement)

If you ask us to delete your information and we are not legally required to keep it, we will delete it within 30 days.

What You Can Ask Us To Do

You can ask us to:

  1. Tell you what we have on file about you. Email us and we will send you everything we have, usually within 10 business days.
  2. Correct something that is wrong. If we have the wrong phone number or address, just tell us.
  3. Delete your information. We will delete anything we are not legally required to keep (payment records, tax filings, and warranty files we have to hold).
  4. Opt out of follow-up contact. Reply "stop" to any email or text, or just tell us and we will never call you again.
  5. Get a copy of your job file. If you had work done by us, you can request the full job file at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address on our contact page or call (516) 555-0100. We do not make you fill out a form or pay a fee.

What Cookies We Use

We use a small number of cookies, all first-party (set by our own site, not by third parties):

  • Session cookie: Keeps you logged in to the estimator and visualizer while you are on the site. Expires when you close the tab.
  • Preference cookie: Remembers your color theme preference (light or dark mode). Optional.

We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or social media cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser and the site will still work, you just will not get the estimator session persistence.

Children Under 13

Our site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you are a parent and you believe your child has submitted information to us, email us and we will delete it.

Updates

If we change this policy, we will update the "last updated" date at the top and, if the change is significant, we will post a notice on the homepage for at least 30 days. We will not change the policy retroactively in a way that reduces your rights over information already collected.
